We are excited to introduce Music Director, James S. Kahane, as the Conductor for the 26-27 Season’s Opening Night of Beethoven’s Sixth.    🎶 Bringing a wealth of experience in both the symphonic and operatic worlds, French-born, James S. Kahane, is Music Director of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, founding member and Principal Conductor of the Helsinki Chamber Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre de la Drôme. Kahane has worked as conductor with the Finnish Chamber Opera on several occasions. A regular guest at the Helsinki Contemporary Opera Festival, he conducted opera productions such as The Tragedy of Carmen by Bizet at the Saint-Céré Festival, The Rape of Lucretia by Britten and Years of Silence by Tuurna.    🌟 Working regularly with different repertoire ranging from early baroque to contemporary music, Kahane was a guest conductor at the NYKY Ensemble, the Hurra Barockorkester, the Somnium Ensemble, the SaxiBa Ensemble and the Miroirs Étendus Ensemble. We are delighted to introduce our 2026-27 Composer Fellow: Montreal-based composer, violist, violinist, and pianist, Leo Purich.   In our 2026-27 Season’s Opening Night on October 3rd, Leo presents their world premiere of “Forest Paths Imagined” 🎇   🎹 Leo has received 4 Young Composer Awards from the SOCAN Foundation, including 1st prize in the 2025 orchestral category, and was also the recipient of the 2023-24 Saxophone Quartet Composition Residency at McGill. A participant in the Young Artist Composers program of the Tuckamore Music Festival, highlights of Leo’s recent years include performing an original viola trio at the 50th International Viola Congress, as well as commissions from NYO Canada, Chœur Saint-Laurent, Sapphonix Collective, and the West Island and Mount Royal youth orchestras.   🎓️ A graduate from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in both Music Theory and Composition, and having obtained a Double DEC in Science and Music from Vanier College, Leo’s work is driven by curiosity about connections between people, sounds, and ideas.   Experience the WORLD PREMIERE of “Forest Paths Imagined” live!! 🌳   Be Here. We are thrilled to introduce our soloist for the 2026-27 Season’s Opening Night, Beethoven’s Sixth: Canadian violinist Jessica Linnebach 🍁   In our October 3 Mainstage Concert, Jessica brings a richly expressive voice to Ernest Chausson’s Poème, unfolding its rhapsodic lines with both intimacy and intensity.   🎻 Jessica has held the position of Associate Concertmaster with Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra since 2010 and is a member of the Ironwood String Quartet. She has established herself as an accomplished artist with a thriving multi-faceted career encompassing solo, chamber, and orchestral performances.   📣 Accepted to the world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia at the age of 10, Jessica remains one of the youngest ever Bachelor of Music graduates in the history of the school.
