The Performance
Our season finale concert Prokofiev & Dvořák in Hamilton leads in a program of striking contrasts and vivid musical storytelling.
The shimmering textures of Alexander Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia open the concert, paired with the richly atmospheric sound world of Stéphane Pépin’s Un Monde Nouveau, a work that blends lyricism with contemporary energy.
Pianist Jean-Philippe Sylvestre brings brilliance and charisma to Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a tour de force of rhythmic drive, sparkling textures and playful edge. The evening culminates in the sweeping grandeur of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “New World,” a cornerstone of the orchestral repertoire, renowned for its unforgettable melodies and expansive sound. Bold, dynamic, and deeply engaging, this concert brings the 26-27 season to a powerful and resonant close.
