Education Partnerships

The Hamilton Phil values our educational partners in the community and strives to work together to enhance music education opportunities for all students in the Greater Hamilton Area. If you have an idea for ways we could work together, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Education Manager Megan Benjafield.

An Instrument for Every Child

An Instrument for Every Child

An Instrument for Every Child (AIFEC) removes barriers to music education for youth, awarding grants to cover all program expenses and by providing each participant with their own instrument free of charge for the duration of the program. AIFEC’s goals are to empower and enable all children to experience the joy and benefits of playing music, regardless of their socio-economic position. The Hamilton Phil is thrilled to participate in this program in partnership with the Hamilton Music Collective.

Specialist High Skills Major Program (SHSM)

A Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific sector while meeting the requirements needed to graduate from secondary school.

In partnership with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB), we offer students specialized music training with Hamilton Phil musicians and Music Director James Kahane. This includes conducting masterclasses, attendance at rehearsals, and curated panel discussions exploring career paths in the arts and culture industry.
