FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HAMILTON, ON—The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) presents another cutting edge, cross-arts concert experience. On Wednesday, November 29 at 7:30pm at the Studio (FirstOntario Concert Hall, 1 Summers Lane). Music Director Gemma New presents Intimate & Immersive, an orchestral experience that is fresh, accessible and cutting edge as HPO musicians perform an evocative program accompanied by an art installation by HAVN (Hamilton Audio/Visual Node). This immersive visual and musical event features the music and dances of composers from Europe and Canada.

In this unconventional format, concert-goers are seated around the orchestra only feet from the musicians. Audience members are encouraged to switch seats between pieces to hear each work from a new perspective.

Intimate & Immersive opens with a set by local band and former HPO Indie Series collaborator Illitry. Headed by Hamilton Arts Award winner Troy Withrow, Illitry’s styles of ambient and electronic music fit well with the experimental and immersive mood of the evening.

Supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, this interactive concert is the second of two events scheduled for 2017, and gives new audiences an opportunity to experience the HPO in a unique, casual environment. Concertgoers can mingle, enjoy a drink and speak with the Conductor and musicians throughout the evening at this unique event that brings the orchestral experience to a new audience.
