The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to introduce a new visual identity and logo that honours the organization’s rich history while presenting a bold, contemporary vision for its future. We are thrilled to reintroduce Hamilton’s professional orchestra as Hamilton Phil

Developed in partnership with Toronto-based marketing agency Haft2, this new visual identity reflects Hamilton Phil’s evolution as a modern orchestra deeply connected to its community. The new logo draws inspiration from the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra’s 1964–65 and 1970–71 horn illustrations, reinterpreting this piece of the organization’s visual heritage through a distinctive, contemporary HP Monogram.

The connecting linework forms the initials H and P, while the outer edge of the monogram subtly suggests the shape of a brass horn. Together, these elements create a meaningful connection between the orchestra’s past and its future, honouring its legacy while introducing a more distinctive and flexible visual mark.

The open-ended crossing lines suggest movement, connection and openness, reflecting Hamilton Phil’s relationship with the community and its commitment to making orchestral music more accessible, welcoming and relevant.

“We’re proud to introduce the new Hamilton Phil visual identity,” says Executive Director Kim Varian. “We have a remarkable history in this city, and this refresh celebrates that while creating a brand that feels energetic, welcoming, and relevant to the audiences we serve today. The new logo gives us a distinctive visual expression that can grow with us as we continue to build connections through music and set the stage for the future.”

“Working with the Hamilton Phil team was a wonderful opportunity to honour the organization’s rich history and legacy while creating an identity that feels distinctly modern and forward-looking, “says Paul Haft, President and Chief Colour Officer at Haft2. “The new logo reflects both where the Hamilton Phil has come from and where it’s going, and we’re proud to have played a role in this exciting next chapter.”

The new identity is part of Hamilton Phil’s continued commitment to building a stronger connection with audiences across Hamilton and beyond. From symphonic masterworks and new music to collaborations, community programs and innovative presentations, the orchestra continues to explore new ways to make orchestral music an integral part of the cultural life of the region.
