The HPO gears up for the holiday season with several performances in the community leading up to our December 21 presentation of the beloved winter story The Snowman.

HAMILTON, ON – On Friday, November 1 at 12pm the HPO Brass Quintet performs a free holiday concert at the Hamilton Public Library Central Branch as part of the HPL’s Noon Hour Concerts series.

Monday December 9 is a busy day for the HPO! Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte hosts her fantastic educational talk Classical 101 at Caroline Place Retirement Residence, which includes piano demonstrations. At 3pm our Brass Quintet bring holiday music to St. Joseph’s Villa as part of our Seniors’ Symphony Experience. The day ends with our Brass Quintet’s holiday performance at the Burlington Public Library Central Branch at 7pm.

On Wednesday, December 11 Richardson-Schulte presents Tchaikovsky: His Life and Music for residents of Caroline Place Retirement Residence, which includes a fascinating talk and piano demonstrations.

We end the month with a seasonal celebration on our Mainstage featuring the beloved winter story The Snowman. The beautifully illustrated film plays while the orchestra performs the stunning score live in FirstOntario Concert Hall (formerly Hamilton Place). The Hamilton Children’s Choir and the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra join us on stage for holiday carols and classics. HPO Music Director Gemma New conducts.
