Biography

Canadian soprano Sheila Dietrich, a highly sought-after young performer, excels in both concert and operatic settings. Her versatility and vocal prowess have been showcased in solo performances with renowned ensembles such as Les Violons du Roy, Capella Intima, and The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. Ms. Dietrich has taken on various operatic roles, including Mother in Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” Pitti-Sing in Sullivan’s “The Mikado,” and Belinda in Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas.” 

Born in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ms. Dietrich earned her Bachelor of Music Performance and Opera Diploma from Wilfrid Laurier University under the guidance of Victor Martens. She continues her studies with Laura Pudwell. Notably, in 2015, Ms. Dietrich made her Carnegie Hall debut as a featured soloist in a Purcell-themed evening directed by Richard Egarr. Her achievements include being a finalist in the 2015 New York Oratorio Society Solo Competition and receiving the Johannes Somary Prize. This accomplished soprano’s talent and dedication mark her as a rising star in the world of classical music.
