Biography

Juliane Gallant is a conductor in Tapestry Opera’s inaugural Women in Musical Leadership Fellowship program. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Drama and Drama and the National Opera Studio in London, UK, Juliane has conducted productions for HGO, King’s Head Theatre, Opera on Location, St Paul’s Opera, Opera Up Close, Opera Mio, and the Clapham Opera Festival. In 2021, she made her Royal Opera House conducting debut in Mami Wata as part of the Engender Festival in collaboration with Pegasus Opera.

Juliane was one of twelve conductors selected for Royal Opera House’s inaugural Women Conductors Course in partnership with National Opera Studio and Royal Philharmonic Society. She has received training from conductors Sian Edwards and Jessica Cottis, and current conducting mentors include Karen Kamensek, JoAnn Falletta and Rosemary Thomson.

Trained as a pianist and repetiteur, Juliane is at home in both the operatic and song repertoire. She has served as repetiteur for Magnetic Opera, Rossini Young Artists and the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. She holds degrees from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Université de Moncton, University of Ottawa, and Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique de Montréal, with further training at the Franz-Schubert-Institut, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, Oxford Lieder Festival, the Nice Summer Music Academy, the Académie Poulenc, and the Orford Arts Academy. 

Juliane is a recipient of funding from the Opera Awards Foundation, the New Brunswick Arts Council, the Salters Company and the Leverhulme Trust.
