Biography
Amy McIntosh is an artist, filmmaker, and educator based in Hamilton and Toronto. She grew up in rural Southwestern Ontario and graduated from McMaster University in 2013. Amy is a founding member of Hamilton Audio Visual Node (HAVN), and loves to develop creative projects that include community participation. Her most recent collaboration, ‘It Is Time’ is a colourful public art work installed at the intersection of King St. and James St. North in downtown Hamilton. Amy’s practice involves the experimentation of materials and processes with mixed media, installation, sound, video, and analogue mediums. Using archive, inquiry, and experience, Amy explores expressions of place, and the interrelationships and connections we find between our environment’s temporal spaces, people and histories. Through the collection and assemblage of found objects, recycled materials, and seasonal debris, she creates transformative compositions and forms with new contexts and stories.
