Biography

Canadian soprano Allison Cecilia Arends possesses a “stunningly beautiful” voice used “with intelligence and great sensitivity” (Hnatyshyn Foundation). Praised for her “lyrical upper tones” and “empathetic acting” (Opera Canada), she excels in opera, new music, and concert repertoire. 

In 2025/26, Allison performs with Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra and joins Cantabile Chamber Singers. As a Royal Conservatory of Music examiner, she travels nationwide and adjudicates festivals including Etobicoke’s music festival. 

Having performed internationally across three continents, Allison toured China with the Brahms Symphony Orchestra and performed at Rideau Hall. She maintains a private Toronto studio and conducts masterclasses for institutions including Jamaica’s Edna Manley Music College and Opera Atelier. 

A Calgary Opera Emerging Artist Program graduate, Allison holds degrees from University of Toronto (Masters) and University of Victoria (Bachelor). She has trained at prestigious programs including Britten-Pears and International Vocal Arts Institute. 

Her awards include the Hnatyshyn Foundation Governor General’s Award, first place in the Clifford Poole Voice Competition, and scholarships from the Johann Strauss Foundation and Wagner Society.
