How does a ‘Film with Live Orchestra’ concert work?

• The film is shown on a theatre-sized screen without its original music, but all the dialogue and sound effects remain.
• The conductor watches the film on a special screen that shows timing cues, like a clock or a moving bar, to help keep the music perfectly in sync with the action.
• The conductor wears an earpieces that plays a steady metronome-like “click” sound, which matches the film’s exact timing, so each click represents a beat in the score.
• The orchestra plays every note live, matching the mood, pace, and emotion of what’s happening on screen.

It’s a precise mix of music and movie magic — the audience experiences the film with the full, rich sound of a live orchestra bringing the score to life.
