We are seeking a creative and strategic Marketing and Communications Officer to join our team and support efforts in audience development, marketing, branding and digital engagement. 

Job Summary 
The Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for coordinating and implementing integrated marketing strategies that increase awareness, attendance and support for the orchestra’s concerts, events and initiatives. This role combines creativity, data-driven decision-making and strong communication skills to connect with audiences and community partners. 

Key Responsibilities 

Marketing, Communications & Promotion 

  • Execute multi-channel marketing campaigns to promote concerts, education programs, fundraising events and community initiatives. 
  • Implement print and digital advertising, email marketing, social media, SEO and website content. 
  • Coordinate the production of promotional materials, including posters, brochures and concert programs. 
  • Track campaign performance and adjust strategies based on data insights and feedback. 

Digital Strategy 

  • Manage the orchestra’s website and social media platforms, ensuring content is current, engaging and aligned with the organization’s goals. 
  • Create or oversee the creation of multimedia content (graphics, videos, blog posts). 
  • Monitor online engagement and analytics to inform future content and outreach strategies. 

Audience Engagement & Development 

  • Collaborate with the box office to drive ticket sales and subscriptions. 
  • Develop audience segmentation strategies to tailor messaging and improve retention. 
  • Support efforts to enhance the patron experience before, during and after concerts and events. 
  • Support HPO’s 35 & Under patron category promotions, communications, partnerships and engagement. 

Internal Communications & Support 

  • Work closely with artistic, development and education teams to align messaging and support HPO goals. 
  • Assist with donor communications and event promotion. 

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field. 
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience, preferably in the arts or nonprofit sector. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills. 
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Canva/Adobe Creative Suite, Google Marketing Suite, Meta, WordPress). 
  • Social media fluency (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.). 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends for concerts and events as needed. 

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of classical music or a passion for the performing arts. 
  • Experience with CRM or ticketing systems (Salesforce). 
  • Graphic design or video editing skills.

Location: Hamilton, Ontario (hybrid work week)
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: From $48,000, based on experience
