The Performance

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN ENTERANCE: due to the City of Hamilton’s Summers Lane rejuvenation project, the main entrance to FirstOntario Concert Hall is temporarily closed. Talk & Tea guests can access the venue through the Stage Doors at 10 MacNab Street South.

In Talk & Tea: The Firsts, we dive into the early works of major composers Jean Sibelius, Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich and the HPO’s own Composer-in-Residence, Abigail Richardson-Schulte. Abigail hosts this fascinating talk, sharing stories of the lives and music of these composers with a focus on how their first ‘hits’ influenced the trajectory of their careers.

Enjoy coffee, tea and treats while we dive into music history and the cultural influence of iconic composers whose early works stand the test of time at Talk & Tea: Firsts. Following the talk, audiences are invited to take in the orchestra’s rehearsal of Sibleius’s En Saga, which opens the HPO 25-26 Season at The Journey Begins on September 20 at FirstOntario Concert Hall, conducted by Music Director James Kahane.
