The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is thrilled to announce its 25-26 Season under the artistic leadership of Music Director James Kahane. Featuring nine full orchestra concerts in our mainstage series at FirstOntario Concert Hall and musical events across the region, the 25-26 Season has something for everyone.

We share iconic orchestral works, celebrate Canadian talent, highlight new music by living composers and welcome acclaimed guest artists to our stage. We look forward to seeing you in the concert hall and around our community in 25-26!” 

The season starts with, The Journey Begins, highlighting the first major ‘hits’ of composers Sibelius, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and the HPO’s own Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte with Music Director James Kahane on the podium. In October we go to the cinema with Jurassic Park: Film with Orchestra, featuring the iconic film with your HPO playing John Williams’ score live! HPO’s own Principal Cellist Leana Rutt is featured soloist on Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor in November and in December we celebrate the holidays with James Kahane, the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Hamilton Children’s Choir

The new year brings heroic symphonic classics like Beethoven’s “Eroica” and Mozart’s 21st Piano Concerto with soloist Thomas Enhco. A nostalgic Valentine’s Day concert sees the HPO join forces with Dwayne Gretzky for an electrifying tribute to some of the greatest songs of all time with guest conductor and arranger Lucas Waldin. In March we welcome incredible Canadian talent Susanne Hou back to the HPO stage for Camille Saint-Saëns’ melodic Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. April sees HPO Concertmaster Stephen Sitarski as soloist on Beethoven’s virtuosic Violin Concerto. In May, we welcome international superstar Anna Fedorova as piano soloist for Rachmaninoff’s scintillatingly Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini with James Kahane at the podium closing the season with Tchaikovsky’s fateful Fifth Symphony

The HPO’s off-the-mainstage series sees the orchestra perform concerts across the region. We collaborate with choral partners The Elora Singers for Considering Matthew Shepard in November and Bach Elgar Choir for Handel’s Messiah in December. We are thrilled to bring professional Opera back to Hamilton with Mozart’s Don Giovanni in February at Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre under the direction of James Kahane.  Intimate & Immersive returns to the Cotton Factory blending orchestral and multimedia arts for a captivating experience.
