The Rehearsal Experience
Bring your class to watch the HPO rehearse for a pops or masterworks series concert.
How does this relate to the music curriculum?
The rehearsal experience is a great resource for teaching a number of knowledge and critical thinking elements from the Ontario music curriculum.
It covers areas from the "knowledge of elements" section:
- Learning conducting patterns, identifying tone colours, identifying instrument families.
It also covers elements from the critical thinking section:
- Expressing responses to music from different cultures
- Describing how different elements are used to create moods, describing thoughts and feelings about music using language, explaining a preference for a particular piece using language.
The rehearsal experience will be approximately 1 hour to 1:20 long. (Students should be back to school by lunch time.)
