Meet the Orchestra: Cecilia Chang

Q: When did you start playing?
A: 6 years old

Q: What made you choose your instrument?
A: My mom wanted me to play the violin because it provided the most brain development

Q: What is your most memorable HPO experience?
A: All of the performances since Jamie has become our music director have been a beautiful experience

Q: What kind of things do you like to do when you’re not playing?
A: Hang with the family (my 4 year old, 1  year old and hubby), travel, hiking, a nice bottle of red wine

Q: Who is your favorite composer to play or listen to?
A: I really do love them all but Brahms is delicious

Q: Favourite book? Movie?
A: Oh Brother Where Art Thou

Q: Do you have a secret indulgence?
A: Anything super fatty (butter, bacon, a nice prime rib steak!) but that’s not much of a secret

Q: Who was your hero when you were 10? Who is your hero now?
A: My mother after my father passed away. She had to raise 2 kids, run a business and buy real estate for rental properties.  She also became the first woman in the Korean Business Association.  Anyone who tries to do little things to make the world a better place each and every day by giving their time, money, efforts, a hug, a smile.
